Many automatic power window systems have to be reset after the window motor has been replaced. After PW (Power Window) motor or regulator replacement on some cars the window may go up and then go right back down. All the manufacturers have different resetting procedures and initializing sometimes even varies for different models made by the same manufacturer. On the 2005 Lincoln Navigator and Ford Expeditions the procedure to initialize or reset the driver’s automatic power window is the same.

Answer: The KD Tools 41780 kit could help if the diameter of the bushing is no bigger than 1 3/8″ in diameter. Otherwise you may want to remove the arm and take it to an auto repair shop or automotive parts store like NAPA that has a press. A lot of auto technicians that are skilled with an air chisel, use that for removal and then press larger bushings back in with a press.

Genisys Scan Tool Question – Flashing/Re-Programing Modules

Question:Will the Genisys Scan Tool with an 07 software update, flash the Electronic Power train Module on a 2001 Ford Windstar?  Will it also read out the ABS module program and reload in a replacement ABS module?  Will it do the same on GM vehicles?

Answer: The OTC Genisys scanner does not have any flashing or re-programming capability.  As far as I am aware, manufacturer specific or OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) scan tools are the only ones capable of this. The manufacturer specific scan tool for Ford, Lincoln and Mercury is the New Generation Star (NGS).
