Honda and Acura Crankshaft Pulley Bolt Removal

crankbolt-hextool-1-sml.jpg

Why are some Honda crankshaft pulley bolts so darn tight? I have seen some pretty interesting fabrications on Honda forums showing how home made tools can be made for holding the pulley still while the bolt is loosened. All you need to do is spend half the day buying supplies at the local home improvement store, get the grinder and cut-off tool out and weld some pieces together and there you have it! Haah…you’ve just re-invented the wheel. All kidding aside it really is a pain in the neck to loosen these bolts, especially if you’re working on the ground without an air compressor. The video below shows one of those fancy store bought tools used to loosen the infamous Honda crankshaft pulley bolt, no welding required.

  1. Thanks for posting our Honda crankshaft pulley tool video. I think making your own tool is great and in the past the Honda crankshaft pulley tool was not available for such a good price, I remember when Snap On or Blue Point was about the only game in town. Now for about half the price of the Snap On tool truck’s tool price we have this great alternative.
